I thought I would take a moment to share
those items I am involved with
that are Unique, at least in my perspective
Not because they are a monitary treasure,
But they are certainly uniquely me.

This is how it went when WEAU-TV out of Eau Claire came to talk about Robyn's Table Chat.
Local Woman Brings Community Together with Table Chat
From Weau Website....

While many things can bring a community together, Robyn Docken has found nothing bonds neighbors and friends, quite like a local paper.
"People are always either bopping in my front door or bopping in my back door and saying oh yeah this, I thought you might want it in the chat," Docken said.
That's because Docken is the publisher of Robyn's Table Chat, a small publication she produces to serve the communities of southern Trempealeau county.
"It's kind of local, comes out every two weeks, it's free, might be a little reflection on history," she said.
But, don't call it her paper.
"I love the fact that it's not my paper, it's my name," she said.
She says the chat is a community effort, with plenty of volunteers to lend a hand.
"Everybody contributes, you know, there's very few things in here that are totally mine and I get lots of help... with a living room I lost a long time ago," Docken said.
That living room now serves as an office, a place she uses to organize all the local events, community history, and news she comes across, into the bi-weekly publication.
   "It's just fun, it's been a delight, it's work I can't say it's not work," Docken said.
Because not only does she write and publish 14 to 16 hundred copies of the chat, she delivers them too.
"I walk into a place, especially a coffee place that knows that I deliver that day, it's like they're all waiting, they want their copy," she said.
Docken says she works hard to balance her coverage of the area, including the interests of communities both, large and small.
"Your giving something to a community you've lived in all your life," she said.
Discovering history that's been forgotten and the stories of those who lived it.

You know how sometimes a song gets stuck in your head and you just can't stop humming it. Well, that's what happened with this.
I plunked it out on the piano so you can hear the melody...It sounds much better when I'm just playing it... and put the words down so you can follow it.
I wrote it this spring and I call it
"Hello, My Friend"
For those that know me, they know I usually meet someone no matter where I am. In this case I was on my way home from Phoenix when I bumped into some soldiers headed for Afghanistan. Since that time last January 2006 they have been to Afghanistan and are now currently back home. The gentleman in the photo is the Captain that was with them.

One of the thrills in my life was playing the Kimball Pipe Organ for the 2006 Season Opening Concert in Clermont, IA. And I have had the thrill of playing the Square Grand at Culzean Castle in Scotland.

I really enjoy my Chapman. Seems like a simple painting, but it is so peaceful to me and hangs over my bed.
Remember the voice of Bob Sacia?

I loved to accompany him. This is just a sampling of a recording Bob made as a Christmas present for his children. (and yes, it was me accompanying)

For those of you that don't recognize this. It is over 100 years old. It is the black cameo with the starburst pin. It was a gift I have had for over 20 years. I have only worn this set once but it is certainly lovely in my eyes.
The Rev. Dr. R. Steven Krueger served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Galesville for over 30 years. During that time, he and I had a working relationship that grew into a lovely friendship.   He obviously preached many sermons during those years, and truthfully I have forgotten most of them. One, however, that he gave in March of 1996 spoke loudly to me and I requested a copy. I am sharing it with you, because I believe it needs to be re-visited often and also found it helpful in my personal dealing with his death. It is called "Prophesy To These Bones."

From a friend came this gift.
It honestly took my breath away. Now for those that don't recognize the appropriateness of this once-in-a-lifetime treasure, let me explain.

My friend took apart his old piano just to get this piece of wood, pegs and all, made the hanger, and gave it to me just as casually as a dandelion so I had something to hang my chains on. You're right! He is an Aquarian.
In addition, I have put extra ribbon I had laying around the house to what I felt was good use. That way, all my beads and my "dangle earrings" that are not rhinestones, are easier to find without being in the way.
On the Blue ribbon is all of the old white bone pins and one of the "butterfly wing" moon pins.
It couldn't be uniquely Robyn without talking about music.
Of course, I have my piano.
But also the little things I love to do.
The Curling Song is a "wav" file so open and listen if you want to.
The Curling Song was written by me to advertise on the radio for the 2004 Jr National Championships in Centerville. It was recorded by the Backroom Bluegrass Band in Lexington, KY.

For a friend, I designed these T-Shirts. If nothing else, it's a great way to meet people and get the word out!
Lower cost than a
newspaper Ad. More visible than a flyer. Want to know how it works? Just Email MeAnd more about the shirt.

Everyone knows I love my Knabe. It was the model F, their Championship Model, built in 1887.Now if you don't know what that means, the case is made of burled walnut. The action is what is called a
"Double Flange" action, not a construction used by many manufacturers. I believe Steinway and Knabe used these. I don't know the names of others but I am sure there were others. If you own a piano with a double flange action, I would certainly love to talk to you!
These are not easy parts to find. This is a photo of the inside of the Knabe. Note that it has a 3/4 plate.
This gives a lovely sound in the high treble notes. Did you know that the Knabe was the piano of choice at the Metropolitan opera for over 40 years.Albert Einstein, Francis Scott Key, and Brigham Young, amoung others, owned Knabes.
